Corinthian Gardens

Playful learning in a local garden.

Corinthian is a magical sliver of land in the shadow of Philadelphia’s Eastern State Penitentiary. As part of its rehabilitation, garden leadership called on us to invent playful learning and wayfinding elements to engage visitors in the abundant, diverse life within its gates.

We designed colorful boxes to be discovered like easter eggs throughout the garden. Inside, there are prompt cards for observing, tasting, listening and interacting with the life in the garden.

We fabricated the boxes and signs by hand, and painted them using my original ink illustrations.
